Dear Colleagues and Friends,
On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the XII International Controlled and Modified Atmosphere Research Conference - CAMA2017, it is both, pleasure and honour, to invite you to attend this worldwide meeting, which will be held in Warsaw, the capital city of Poland, June 18-22, 2017. The Conference is organized by the Research Institute of Horticulture (InHort - Skierniewice, Poland) under the aegis of the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS). The Research Institute of Horticulture was established on January 1, 2011, by merging two renown research units with long tradition and important achievements in Polish horticultural sciences: the Research Institute of Pomology and Floriculture (est. 1951) and the Research Institute of Vegetable Crops (est. 1964). The new Research Institute is a legal and organizational successor to its predecessors, and inherited their staff and properties as well as rights and obligations.
Poland is a leading country in Europe in fruit, vegetables and mushrooms production (ca 10 million tons annually) and very important exporter of apples (in the year 2013 exported over 1 200 thousand tons) and mushrooms (over 30% import volume in the world). Well-equipped storage facilities allow to store over 1 500 thousand tons of fresh fruit and vegetables in modern storage technologies.
The previous CAMA2013, held in Trani (Italy), attracted many participants, who we hope to have again attending the next Conference, this time in Warsaw. To achieve that, many highly renowned scientist will give introductory lectures as invited and keynote speakers, and many more will provide oral and posters presentations focused predominantly on physiological and technical aspects of fruit and vegetable storage technology, to maintain quality of fresh and minimally processed horticultural commodities.
We warmly welcome scientists, researchers, and students, as well as professionals of the horticulture industry, to attend the CAMA2017 Conference in Warsaw, to exchange ideas, knowledge and experience, enhancing existing or establishing new fruitful cooperation in the field of postharvest technologies of horticultural crops.
The conference will comprise oral and poster sessions with introductory presentations of invited and keynote speakers and a professional tour, including a short visit to the Research Institute of Horticulture in Skierniewice (town called the Capital City of Polish Horticultural Sciences).
We wish you a fruitful and pleasant stay in Poland, surrounded by Polish hospitality with traditional food, including fresh fruits and vegetables stored in innovative technologies.
Looking forward to see you in Warsaw, in June 2017.
